Latin America's Comparative Constitutional Engineering
LATAM's CCE Project aims to become the first comparative constitutional study on the nineteenth Latin American current constitutions, which shares its results through an open-access digital dashboard. Following Giovanni Sartori's still-valid view of the Constitution as “plans to design government’s structures”, this project focuses on the main factors determining and organising power within the state. Throughout almost thirty variables, it analyses from a comparative perspective those constitutional devices that contribute to determining how far or close Latin American constitutions are from advanced liberal democracy. As a comparative constitutional research, this project's secondary objective is to provide critical data on significant trends and particularities to constitution drafters and policymakers in Latin America, who ultimately are the most responsible agents for building resilient democratic constitutions.
